"Careful with that glass bauble, Lola," said Mummy Jess, pointing a finger, but then she smiled and lifted Lola high up to reach the top branch. Lola giggled and placed the shiny gold star right at the peak of the green tree. "It looks perfect!" Lola cheered, her eyes twinkling just like the fairy lights. Now the living room felt ready for Christmas magic.

Next, it was time to bake yummy gingerbread cookies in the warm kitchen. Lola tried to make a Santa shape, but it looked more like a funny potato! "No messy flour on the floor, please," Mummy warned, before winking and putting a dot of white flour right on Lola’s nose. They laughed together as the sweet smell of cinnamon filled the air.

When the moon came out, they hung two big red stockings by the fireplace. Lola made sure to leave a crunchy carrot for the reindeer and a cookie for Santa. "Now, sleep is very serious business," Mummy said with a pretend serious face, tucking Lola in tight. Lola tried to stay awake to listen for sleigh bells, but her eyelids felt very, very heavy.

The next morning, Lola jumped on Mummy’s bed with a loud shout, "Wake up, it’s Christmas!" Mummy Jess groaned playfully and gave Lola a giant, warm bear hug. They ran downstairs holding hands to see the presents waiting under the tree. It was the best Christmas ever because they were together.
