Golden Granny Bev

By Melanie Carsten

To Ollie - may you always remember granny Bev, just like we did!

Meet Golden Granny Bev, with a smile so bright and grand. She was the very kindest lady in the whole wide land. She had short brown hair with a little blonde peek. And hidden right inside was a bright purple streak!

Page 7

Although she was of age, she looked so young and spry. She had a happy sparkle in her warm and loving eye. She wore the brightest clothes and loved to dance and spin. Whenever she was near you, the fun would soon begin!

Page 9

Granny Bev was bubbly, and she talked to everyone. She made each normal day feel like a whole lot of fun. When she started giggling, the room would light right up. Her laugh was sweet and fizzy like a bubbling magic cup.

Page 11

If someone felt unhappy, she would always stop and care. She put everybody first and had so much love to share. She helped her friends and neighbors with a gentle, warming hug. She was as sweet and caring as a little ladybug.

Page 13

No matter who she met, she would leave them feeling grand. She sprinkled joy and happiness all across the land. If you were feeling sad, she would wipe away your tear. She made your worries vanish every time that she was near.

Page 15

She loved to bake sweet treats and plant flowers in the dirt. She always had a bandage if you ever got a hurt. She shared her favorite hobbies with a happy, sunny beam. Being around Granny Bev felt like delightful dream.

Page 17

She told us to be brave and to live life to the top, to run and jump and play, and to never ever stop. 'Try out something new!' she would say with a big cheer. 'There is so much magic waiting for you every year.'

Page 19

She told us to be kind and to make a brand new friend. She said that love and goodness are things that never end. 'Always find the sunshine on a dark and rainy day,' she would say. 'Make sure you leave a smile with the people on your way.'

Page 21

Then one quiet morning, Granny Bev had to depart. But she left a golden glowing deep inside of every heart. She traveled up to heaven to be a shining star. Even though we miss her, she is never very far.

Page 23

At first we felt so sad, and we missed her bubbly voice. But then we thought of Granny, and we started to rejoice. We remembered her loud laugh and her little purple streak. We could almost feel her kiss upon our little cheek.

Page 25

Now whenever we are playing, a tiny friend drops by. A little spotted ladybug comes flying from the sky. It lands upon a leaf or upon a little hand. It is a sign from Granny from a very special land.

Page 27

Sometimes we find a feather resting softly on the ground. It seems to float from nowhere without a single sound. We know it is a message sent from Granny up above. It is her special way to say she sends us all her love.

Page 29

When we see the ladybugs and feathers on the grass, we know that Granny's magic is never going to pass. She is watching over us as we run and jump and play. She is making sure we have a very lovely day.

Page 31

We try to be like Granny and to put each other first. We try to share a smile when somebody feels their worst. We leave our friends much happier than how they were before. We try to spread her kindness to every single door.

Page 33

We live our lives so fully, just the way she asked us to. We try our very best in everything we ever do. We laugh a loud, big laughs that fills up the whole wide room. We help the lovely flowers in the garden grow and bloom.

Page 35

So if you see a ladybug or feather in the breeze, or hear a happy giggle coming through the trees. Just know it is Granny Bev, with her golden, sunny smile. She is reminding you to love and be happy for a while.
