George the super gull

By

To George, Happy 6th Birthday! You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Believe in yourself always! Love Katie xxx

Daddy was so excited! He wore his favourite blue scarf because today was a very special day. The whole family was going to see his favourite team, Brighton, play at the big American Express Stadium! George, Rose, Mummy, and Daddy couldn't wait.

The stadium was giant and filled with happy fans. Before the game started, they sat in their seats and ate yummy hotdogs and warm, crunchy popcorn. Little Rose couldn't stop smiling and shared her popcorn with George.

It was a big cup final match against Shrewsbury Town! Mummy smiled warmly and started a fun chant. "Go Gulls! Go Gulls!" she cheered, and George and Rose joined in, clapping their hands.

Just as the whistle was about to blow, the Brighton team looked worried. They only had ten players, and they needed eleven to start the game! The team manager looked up at the crowd, searching for a helper.

Suddenly, the manager pointed right at George! "Would you like to play for us today?" he asked with a big smile. George’s heart did a little flutter because he had never played in a real stadium before.

George felt a little bit unsure, but he looked at his family cheering for him. He took a deep breath and decided to be brave. "I will give it my best try!" George said happily.

George quickly put on his football kit. He wore a blue shirt with white pinstripes, blue shorts, blue socks, and shiny football boots. He looked like a real superstar!

The match began! The players from Shrewsbury Town ran very fast in their blue and amber striped shirts. George chased the ball, learning how to pass and kick with his new teammates.

The game was so exciting, but it was very close. With only one minute left on the big stadium clock, the score was still 0-0! Everyone in the crowd held their breath.

Suddenly, the ball bounced right to George's feet. He ran super fast, zooming past the other team, and gave the ball a mighty kick. Whoosh! The ball sailed straight into the net!

"GOAL!" cheered the crowd. The referee blew the final whistle, and Brighton had won the cup! George's teammates lifted him up in the air, cheering for their new hero.

Daddy, Mummy, and Rose gave George the biggest hugs ever. George smiled a huge smile, feeling so happy that he had tried something new. Being brave and giving it a go had turned into the best day ever!
