For the bravest girl in the world
Once upon a time, there was a clever little girl named Clemmie who was very good at telling grown-ups what she thought. But one day, something rather peculiar happened. A gang of tiny mischievous bugs called the Meningitis Mischief-Makers sneaked into Clemmie's body.

Their leader was a nasty little bug named General Grumble. "Let's cause some TROUBLE!" he squeaked, banging tiny drums - BOOM! BANG! CRASH! Poor Clemmie felt hot, her head hurt terribly and she kept throwing up but General Grumble had made one huge mistake: he had picked the wrong little girl.

Her mummies knew something was wrong, so her mama wrapped Clemmie in her cosy star blanket and scooped her up. She took her straight to the Hospital of Heroes. Inside were friendly doctors, kind nurses, and machines that went BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Some doctors came to look at Clemmie. "I think we have some naughty visitors". The doctors and nurses assembled a super secret weapon—not a sword or a dragon, but powerful bug-busting medicine!

The doctor helped put a tiny tube called a cannula into Clemmie's arm. Clemmie did NOT like this one bit and cried, "NO THANK YOU!" Mama held her close and whispered, "I am right here and I’ll look after you."

WHOOSH! Inside Clemmie's body, the medicine transformed into a glittering army of Bug Busters led by Captain Antibiotic. "ATTAAAAACK!" shouted the Captain. General Grumble gasped as the shiny army charged forward to save the day.

The stubborn bugs built a noisy fortress and kept banging their drums, making Clemmie's head ache. She felt cross, tired, and scared, but Mama stroked her hair gently. "You don't have to be brave every minute," Mama whispered.

Then the door popped open, and in walked Mummy alongside little brother Alfred! Alfred held his baby doll tightly and gave Clemmie the biggest cuddle. General Grumble peeked through his telescope and squeaked, "Oh no, she has REINFORCEMENTS!"

Day after day, the medicine army worked hard while the doctors and nurses cared for Clemmie. Slowly but surely, the Bug Busters won the battle! "RETREAT!" squealed General Grumble as all the naughty bugs ran away as fast as their tiny legs could carry them.

Even though hi the bugs were gone, fighting an infection was hard work and Clemmie needed time to rest. The Hospital of Heroes took extra special care of her until her head stopped hurting. Finally, the doctor smiled and said, "Clemmie, you are well enough to go home!"

HOORAY! There were big cuddles, packed bags, and a happy trip home to her favourite toys and her cosy bed. Clemmie had some big feelings about everything that happened, but both of her mummies were there to give her all the love she needed.

That night, Mummy tucked Clemmie into bed. "Was I brave?" Clemmie whispered softly. Mummy smiled and kissed her forehead. "The medicine fought the bugs, and you did the most important job of all—you let us love and look after you while you got better." Mummy kissed her forehead.
"And if you ever feel frightened again, you can always tell me."
"Even if it's the middle of the night?"
"Even then."
And somewhere very far away, General Grumble was still running as fast as his tiny bug legs could carry him.
