A Big Decision

By Apple Tester

A big gust of wind whooshed through the yard. It picked up Barnaby, the fluffy stuffed bunny, and tossed him deep into the messy bushes. "Oh no!" cried Maurice.

Maurice shook his mop of blonde hair and looked at the thick green leaves. He was tall and thin, and he always liked to have a plan. "We need a map for this rescue," he said.

Maurice sat on his tanned knees and drew three paths in the dirt. Path one was very fast but full of prickly thorns. Path two was super safe but too slow. Path three was just right.

"We will take path three," Maurice decided with a serious nod. "It is safe, fast, and we can do it together!" He smiled his biggest smile to make everyone feel brave.

Maurice led the way into the backyard jungle. The bushes felt tall and wild all around them. He held his head high and stepped carefully over the twigs.

Suddenly, Maurice stopped in his tracks. A big, dark shadow was stretching across the dirt! It looked like a spooky monster hiding in the leaves.

Maurice took a deep breath and stepped closer to look. He started to laugh. It was not a monster at all, just a friendly little garden gnome! "False alarm, team!" Maurice joked.

At last, Maurice found Barnaby the bunny tucked under a soft leaf. He scooped up the toy and hugged him tight. With a smart plan and a brave heart, they had saved the day!
